Critical Race Theory: Uniting or Dividing?

Recently, the issue of CRT (Critical Race Theory) being taught in schools has come in to the spot light, and has become rather controversial.  I wanted to discuss this issue and what it may teach kids. Below is my Birds Eye View discussing this topic.

As you could see, I tried to find pros to CRT, but I could not find many. I do not think it will make the world a better and more united place. If anything, I would expect the opposite. I believe CRT will divide us and teach us if you’re white your bad and if a person of color, you are a victim. To think you are evil, just because you’re white could lead to depression and guilt; especially to younger children. Also, believing you are oppressed because you are a minority can lead to sadness, and even an excuse to fail.

Kids should be taught that as Americans, no matter your ethnicity, religion, gender or back ground, if you work hard you can succeed. That’s not to say kids shouldn’t learn about racism. I think it is important not only to look back at our mistakes, but also our improvements. That is the key to a more united and successful nation.
