George Floyd protest in Denver goes from peaceful to intense as the sunlight bows to the night

When I arrived Denver it was a peaceful protest for the death George Floyd. I was able to talk with protesters about what they think about the protests and how justice can be served for George Floyd. Here are some of the interviews.

Before the sun set, people were gathered in front of the Colorado State Capitol. Police were no where to be seen until just after 8 P.M. Denver Mayor, Micheal Hancock, set a curfew for 8 P.M. for both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday night the curfew was enforced with tear gas at the Capitol.

I was able to speak with a Denver local, here since the civil rights movement of the 1960’s.

Then it got to a point where we had to leave.

Sunday night though, police let protesters gather even after curfew, until demonstrators(or perhaps more aptly, ‘vandals’) marched to the near by police station where people shot out fire works, threw rocks at police and more. Before I tell you how police responded, here is an interview with a Denver Police officer.

Police responded with tear gas, flash bangs and pepper balls (a pepper ball is kind of like a paint ball but pepper spray powder). Here is some disturbing footage of protesters lighting dumpsters on fire. Along with police response.

So is this what protest should look like? Let me know!
