Expectations are Premeditated Disapointments

A red wave, something that has been said often during this election cycle. For many Republicans though, last night was a disappointment. Why is that? Did the GOP miscalculate the importance of abortion to voters? Let’s dive into why Republicans failed to meet expectations and what both parties are saying about last nights results.

To start off let me say this, by no means am I saying Republicans lost, but that they could have done better. In fact, in Florida their victory was incredible. With DeSantis even winning metropolitan counties such as Hillsborough and Miami-Dade. This seems to show how much Floridians like their Governor. Republican victories did not stop in Florida with them flipping House seats and Senate seats. It seems like they did just fine; which they did, but for all the hype around the big wave it seemed like a disappointing night for Republicans.

I feel one reason the red wave fell short of expectations is the fact the polls did not show the importance of abortion to voters. As I watched debates it seemed quite ridiculous how many times Democratic candidates kept bring up abortion rights. Turns out their strategy may helped in holding off what could have been a terrible night for Democrats. Exit polls indicated that abortion was ‘top of mind’ for many voters.

Next date regarding elections?? Look out for November 15, when President Trump is expected to make a big announcement. Back in August I asked President Trump in a press gaggle to try and get him to say whether he would run in 2024. His response? ‘I think you will be very happy young man.’ Sounded like he will be running to me, but stay tuned for next Tuesday and he might have a final answer for us!
